Feng Shui Balanced Bedroom

Creating a balanced bedroom with Feng Shui

When mentioning Feng Shui we're thinking about balance, flow and energy. It's all about health and happiness in your life and when it comes to your home it's making a space that functions and feels good to live in.

So let's get straight to it on how you can use Feng Shui to improve your living space.

What is Feng Shui?

By definition, feng shui is a practice of arranging the pieces in living spaces to create balance with the natural world. This is what it means to feng shui your home. The goal is to harness energy forces and establish harmony between an individual and their environment.

Feng shui's meaning can be broken down into the Chinese words "feng," meaning wind, and "shui," meaning water. The concept is derived from an ancient poem that talks about human life being connected to and flowing with the environment around it.

How to incorporate Fen Shui into your bedroom?

The function of a bedroom is quite a simple one at first thought, it's where you sleep. However, it has a much bigger importance to your life and home. It's often your safe space where you can unwind after a stressful day at work or with the children. When designing your bedroom it's important for the space to be relaxing, calming and clutterfree.

Position your bed centrally

Part of the Feng Shui guidance is the concept of the commanding position, which refers to placing objects facing the entry door, but not in line with it. Your bed should be placed in the commanding position as it's the largest and most important item in your room. The best place for your bed position is diagonally from the door, so it is in your sight but you do not look directly out of it.

Ensure you have bedside tables on either side of the bed

Balance is a key element in a bedroom and it's important to have bedside tables on either side of your bed. You can add items like plants for the natural essence but avoid as many digital devices as possible.

Have good storage

It wouldn't be Wharfedale Interiors blog without mentioning storage and wardrobes. A big part of Feng Shui is creating a space that is clutter-free and clean. It's about balance and having clothes all over the place isn't great. Investing in fitted bedroom wardrobes is so important as your clothes and items are kept behind closed doors keeping the bedroom space calming and neutral.
